What we collect
Account information: your email address, display name, and a securely hashed password.
Items you add: product details, purchase information, notes, and any receipts, labels, or photos you upload.
Data you import: if you connect Gmail, we read recent order and receipt emails only to create item records for you.
Device information: push-notification subscriptions (if you enable reminders) and basic technical logs used for reliability and abuse prevention.
How we use it
To run the service: track what you own, estimate cost of ownership, send upkeep and resale reminders, and help you buy, maintain, and resell.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Google user data (Limited Use)
Ownwise’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
When you connect Gmail, we request read-only access and use it solely to identify order and receipt emails and create item records for you. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or allow humans to read it, except as necessary for security, to comply with law, or with your explicit consent.
The Gmail access token is used only for the import you initiate and is not stored. You can disconnect at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to operate Ownwise: hosting and delivery, database storage, transactional email, and AI/data services used to identify products and estimate costs and resale values. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.
Data retention, export, and deletion
You can export your data as JSON or permanently delete your account and data at any time from your profile settings.
Deleting your account removes your items, drafts, uploaded files, marketplace listings, and account record.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data (for example under GDPR or CCPA). The in-app export and deletion tools let you exercise these directly.
Security
Passwords are hashed, sessions use secure httpOnly cookies, and access to your data is scoped to your account. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy and will revise the date above when we do.
